I was disappointed with the condition of the Hotel. I had stayed there many years ago and remember it being better maintained than now. The shower was old and the room in real need for an update.
I had forgotten how many things there are to see and do in Canberra and wished we had arranged to spend more time there.

It was not what I expected and there for I was disapointed from the start, apart from the location i was not happy, the staff were not friendly on signing out, it was as if we have you money so get out, i will not be staying there again put it that way,
Canberra is a great place to visit, there is so much to do i did not have enough time to get to see all i wanted in the 3 days i was there, easy to get around and just a pleasant place to be, beautiful day or night, loved it

Unfortunately for the price we paid the Diamant Hotel was disappointing. We had bad neighbours for 2 out of the 3 nights we stayed - they came home each night at 2 a. And although I believe this hotel has just been recently refurbished we could hear the door banging, their footsteps in the room and the shower - when we checked in we thought we could have been welcomed better - the girl on the desk was we commented between ourselves "grumpy".
The rooms are very tiny with the kettle, cups, tea, coffee in the wardrobe! However, the Du Jour Cafe downstairs is very nice with good food and good service. We did walk to all attractions - a lovely walk through the ANU to the Botanic Gardens.
Great things to do in Canberra for the 3 days we were there. National Portrait Gallery, Old Parliament House, current Parliament House, Botanic Gardens, Australian War Memorial were all terrific.

Fantastic location and great layout of the appartment (2 bed) Ideal for a family which was why we chose it. However, despite the whole block stinking of chlorine bleach, neither the kitchen nor bathroom were actually clean! In the bathrooms the obvious surfaces had been cleaned but behind the toilet, the front of the cabinets, on top of other surfaces had not been touched in months. The oven was disgusting.
The kitchen was lacking in basics such as a sharp knife! On this sort of trip you buy easy, heat up food - but there wasn't a pair of scissors to open the packages! When I called down to reception on the night we arrived, the receptionist was not able to help me because she was working alone and could not leave the office to go and see if the items we needed were in housekeeping! I was not impressed with 3 children to feed.
